A Fourth Way of Calcindony
A Fourth Way of Calcindony speaks of spaces where organisms go to die, decay, and become Others. Through a 4-stage geological process a petrified whale ear descends into dialogue with the forces of deep time. On their ignition in the underworld a series of transformative states occur.
Using the methods of modern Laboratories and 18th century alchemical recipes, a geological simulation is undertaken on the whale ear. Through the stages of heating, decomposition, burial, and permineralisation the ear transforms into new states. Each rupture alludes to a witnessed Earth, a locked Atmosphere, and a sound at Sea.
